YEARS HELD AT THIS POSITION
I am 27 years old and a full blooded KIWI!!! (Up the all blacks)
I hav diving since I was 15 years old and I learnt in the cool waters of the Deep South Island in New Zealand. I became I Dive instructor at Dive Otago Ltd in 2010 in Dunedin.
I then got married to my wife Sarah in 2012 and we decided to move to Australia and try our luck!!
My wife is a Physiotherapist and she found a job easy and I was very very lucky to get a part time job at Jetty Dive Centre with Mike and Deb.
Since I joined the Jetty Dive team I have improved my teaching and qualifications greatly.. Best decision of my life!!!!
What drew you into the sport of Scuba Diving?
As a kid I always loved being in the water no mater how cold or dirty it was and I use to gather Paua, Kina and Crayfish for my family at the age of 10, thinking that I could breath under water was awesome so I gave it a go and here I am!!
What is your favourite dive site and why?
By far it is Truk Lagoon, Micronesia. I have always been fascinated with finding things under water and exploring new stuff.. I think eveyone knows that if your a scuba diver Truk Lagoon is a must and my best!!
What is the most memorable dive you have done, and why?
My most memorable dive was in Dunedin NZ during my Instructor Course I was with my other instructor buddy and we were practicing our skills when I huge male Sea Lion came right up to my buddy and put its jaw around her head!!! Let’s just say I was preparing for her to be killed!!
What do you love about being a Dive Instructor?
The satisfaction of certifying people to breath under water and having my office under the water.. It’s amazing how many people say that I have the best job in the world!! I think I do too.
Where can you see the sport of Scuba Diving heading in the future?
Well if they say the water is rising due to climate change we do have the best job. But I can see more and more people wanting to learn to dive as long as the media doesn’t scare them off with silly stuff about the sharks are out to kill everyone who enters the water.
