YEARS HELD AT THIS POSITION
In October 2011 I started my business Rainforest Scuba diving in the rainforest in platypus waters. It is a world 1st and I officially opened July 1st 2012. I have won 2 tourism awards and have featured on The Project with Dr Chris the Bondi vet, QANTAS inflight magazine, Qld Weekender, Dive Log, Coxy’s Big Break, RACV magazine, Tiger inflight magazine, NHK in Japan and much more. I love what I do and I could not imagine changing jobs for anything in the world.
What drew you into the sport of Scuba Diving?
I love the fact that it is a completely different world where you can discover new things on every dive. The marine life is spectacular and to me it was the only way I would be in the water.
What is your favourite dive site and why?
The rainforest in Finch Hatton 65km west of Mackay. The dive is exciting every single time with the conditions changing after each rainfall. It is serene and peaceful and there is nothing else like it in the world….plus you get the chance to be in the water at the same time as the platypus.
What is the most memorable dive you have done, and why?
The most memorable dive I have had was the 1st time I saw a platypus in the water with me and the 2nd was when I got actual footage of the platypus while diving.
What do you love about being a Dive Instructor?
The fact that I can share my love of diving with others and show them a world that is so unique. It also helps me teach them that it is safe, fun and nothing to be scared of.
Where can you see the sport of Scuba Diving heading in the future?
I believe that scuba diving will become the number 1 water sport enjoyed at all levels from recreational to technical. There are so many different dive types and places which will attract new divers and ones that want to continue on in their water world journey.
