YEARS HELD AT THIS POSITION
My name is Samantha and I have been working in the dive industry full time for 7 years!
I did my Open Water in 2001 when I was 11 and became hooked! Since then I knew I wanted to be a dive pro…
I became an instructor at 18 and have dived all over the world in places such as the Barrier Reef, Solomon Islands, Truk Lagoon, Papua New Guinea, Tonga and many more.
What drew you into the sport of Scuba Diving?
I was always a water kid, on family holidays we would go to Fiji and i would be snorkelling whenever I got the chance. It seemed like a natural thing to progress into diving when I was old enough and I never looked back!
What is your favourite dive site and why?
Bare Island in Sydney. It has sooooo much variety and always has something interesting to see and can be full of surprises. Great for photography with loads of macro stuff, pygmy pipehorses, red indian fish, angler fish but also heaps of other stuff if macro isnt your thing. Octopus, bull rays, morays, the list is endless!
What is the most memorable dive you have done, and why?
Spending an hour in the water with a manta train with only about 5 other divers in Palau. Getting so close I could touch them, CRAZY!
What do you love about being a Dive Instructor?
Listening to all the people who come diving who talk about having a great break from work and going diving. Being able to think ‘man Im lucky’ is a pretty awesome feeling….
Where can you see the sport of Scuba Diving heading in the future?
Scuba Diving has already become sooo accessible to almost everyone. I hope in the future it gets even easier for people to get certified and experience what we get to live and love on a daily basis.
